The ACLO program is an initiative
of Victoria Police to enhance the relationship between
Victoria Police and the Victorian Aboriginal
communities. The ACLO program provides the necessary
link to engage in a proactive community Policing
approach that instigates positive change within the
current relationships.
Objectives of the ACLO program
are:

Work with the community and Police to
build trust and respect.
·
Assist Police and the community to
understand each other and work together.
·
Assist the community to understand Police
processes.
·
To increase the number of Aboriginal
people working in Victoria Police.
·
To support the Victoria Police mission
statement “A safer & more confident Victoria.
Aboriginal Community Liaison
Officers are Aboriginal people working towards better
outcomes for community and Police.
Why have Aboriginal Community
Liaison Officers?
Victoria Police wants to work with
the community. ACLO’s can assist the Police and the
community to better understand each other. They can
also advise and inform Police on community and cultural
issues.
The ACLO’s job is to:

Assist Police and community to
communicate.

Work with the community and Police to
resolve problems.
·
Work with Police to understand community
and culture.
·
Work with community to understand Police
and Police services.
ACLO’s are employees of Victoria
Police with no Police powers (Not Police officers)
